The v King has walked all over the township, and on Sunday he paid a visit to the house ot Mr Peter Kay, During the stay of the party an old Ngatipaua chief named TerekaunuUu died, and was buried on Sunday in the Octagon where stands the tomb of Potatau, the natives holding a taugi according to their custom. Mr Bar tie tt, photographer, of Auckland, has been up and has succeeded in taking portraits of the king and his family, and yesterday secured a picture of a large r body of the natives previous to their executing a war dance. The conduct of the natives has been most circumspect, no drinking or diborderliness of any kind being noticeable, and they observed Sunday with the strictest decorum. On Saturday Mr C. 0. Davis, the wellknown Maori linguist, arrived at Ngaruawahia, having been requested by the natives to come up. He has had interviews with Tawhiao and Manuhiri, but of their nature nothing is known. It is understood that the natives will leave for Mercer some time to-day.
