Ykstkrday.— [Before H. W. Northcroft, Esq.. 11.M.J Moi'flin- v. Giso.ssMA.v.— Claim, £20, for loss of mare injured by defendant, and £i for hire of buggy, &c. This case was heard lasb Court day, and His Worship now gave judgment. He said the defendant had not used that amount of care and diligence which he would have exercised had the horse been his own, and that m proceeding from Ngaruawahia he had not treated the horse as he would his own. He would therefore give judgment for £18 and costs in the first case, and for amount claimed and costs in the other. Wells v. F. W. Reynold*.— Claim, £2 16s, wages. Judgment for amount and costs. H. Mullious v. A. and H. Swarbrick. — This was a case in which the plaintiff claimed £17 6s for damage done by defendants' cattle to a crop of potatoes and grass, and for grazing a number of cattle, after notice had been given to remove same, at the rate of 3s each per clay. Mr O'Neill appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Hay for the defendant. A large amount of evidence was led by the plaintiff to prove damage done, value of crops, &c, and the hearing of the case was then adjourned till to-day.
Alleged Assault. Erueta Houpapa was charged with having, on the 23rd of May. last, at Karakarike,' assaulted one Hananu Kahino, by striking him with a tomahawk. There was no appearance of the prosecutor, and on the application of Sergt. McGovern, the Magistrate granted a remand till Monday.
