THE WAIPA ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— ln reply to "An Elector" in your Saturday's issue, I was present at Mr Whitaber's meeting, and I feel certain, from the emphatic manner Mr W". spoke in reference to the coming election, that the electors may cleoend unon his going to the poll. At any rate it will" take more than an electjoneeiing address to make him " change his mind." Electors are moie wary than of old, and at this stage of affairs any candidate would find it difficult to get pledges. The Mayor can testify to this, and as to the rumour about Mr Whyte's retiring, it can be taken for what it is worth — an electioneering dodge. — i am, &c, Another Elector. Ohaupo Road, July 11.
