Typhoid Fever at Christchurch. Christchurch, Last Night.
Two cases of typhoid fever have occurred recently in Christchnrch on the premises of Mr Jell, which are drained and very clean The origin has puzzled the doctor, and he found, that the same milkman supplied both families two or three days ago. A serious outbreak of typhoid fever has occurred at the asylum, one of the attendants dying immediately. It was found that the same milkman had supplied the whole of the asylum, and on examining his premises they were found to be in a filthy condition, leaving no doubt but that the milk has spread the infection. There are several cases of typhoid about. The supply of milk from this dairy has been stopped. Vigorous measures will be taken by use of disinfectants. The local health officer has for some time been urging the Board to obtain the sanitary contiol over dairies, but a great outcry has been raised, and nothing has hitherto been done.
