Dunedin, The jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff in the libel action, Seabord v. the Bruce Standard, damages £25.
The Gaming Bill. At a meeting of clergy re the Gammg Bill, the following resolutions were carried : — •'* That this meeting petition Parliament to past the Gaming and Lotteries Bill now before the House, or one embodying its principles." " That this meeting specially direct the attention of the framers of the bill to the necessity of .so framing it that all advertisements of consultations, sweepstakes, &c, shall be absolutely illegal.' '
