EVENING SITTING. The House re-assembled at 7.30.
The Licensing Bill. In committee, clause 12 of the Licensing Bill was amended to provide that the ordinary licensing committee consist of five persons, to be elected in the manner provided by the Regulation of Local Elections Act. Progress was reported, and leave grauted to s>it again.
Second Readings. The following bills were read a second time :—Affirmation: — Affirmation in Lieu of Oatho Bill ; Masterton and Greytown Lands Management Bill ; Otago Harbor Board Leasing Bill. The Otago University Reserves Vesting Bill passed through committee.
Fire Prevention and Fire Brigades Bill. The Fire Prevention and Fire Brigades Bill w.is considered in committee. On clause 1 Mr Andrews moved— '" That the chairman leave the clnur." The House divided: — Ayes, 23 ; noe&, 35. Clauses up to 15 were passed as printed.
