The Chinese at the Thames. Thames, Last Night.
It was reported to the authorities yesterday that leprosy had demonstrated itself among one or nioie members of the Chinese community at Parawai. The symptoms apparent having been described to some medical gentlemen, they fear that such is the case. This moming tiie Borough medical officer proceeded to Fiinvw ai under instructions to make an examination, so that if the foul disease has been imported, steps will be taken to prevent its spread.
Mr Sheehan. This morning's Aihclisn- says : "We believe the junior member for tho district (Mr Sheehan) leally means to make sign to his constituents within the next land, and yesterday summoned to his piesence his faithful henchman, Mr McIlhone, w ith whom he will consult on aifans of the nation in general and his constituents in particular to-day. We may expect to hear from the lion, member immediately thereafter. It possibly may result in his paying a flying visit to the district and addressing an audience to-moi row.
