GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE BONUSES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Could, y9u, or any of your readers, give any information as to when ' the bonuses accruing from the " Government Insurance office," are to be divided. The local agent here, Mr ,T. K. McDonald, has been, questioned about the matter, but no satisfactory reply elicited,. There- is no doubt" the ; Government have.; not kept faith with the Insurers, as from all I can hear, they were to have declared and made payable a bonus in 1880, and from speeches made inthe,Ho;Use during the, last one or two sessions of Parliament, the' accounts seem to bo in a most unsatisfactory state, the working expenses of the department being in excess of those of privato companies, as witness, having to send homo to the Mother Country for actuaries, to correct the accounts of the actuary here, who draws a very large salary (some six bundled I believe), for making blunders. Now that the Mutual has established an agency here, it behoves the Government office to redeem its character, if not I would suggest a meeting of the Policy-holders, to determine what action should bo taken in the mattor. — lam,&c, Insurer. Hamilton, June 17, 1881.
