MANGAPIKO LICENSING DISTRICT.
The annual Licensing Meeting for the renewal, transfer and granting publican's licenses for this district was held here on Friday, before H. W. Northcroft, Esq., (chairman) and Messrs Grierson and Laing, the new Commissioners. The renewal of the license of the Alexandra Hotel was granted to Thomas Finch, no objection being made. The transfer of the Royal Hotel, Alexandra, from William Dethmer io Matthias Asmuss also granted, these two being the only applications.
Mr Thamas Gresham then made a forcible appeal to the bench on behalf of Messrs Finch and Asmuss that thenrespective licenses be reduced from £20 to £15 for the ensuing year — the trade of the place of late having gi'eatly fallen oft, while the duties have considerably increased. After some little discussion the Commissioners were pleased to gLant the application.
