THE CAMBRIDGE NEWSPAPER FRACAS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — Perhaps I ought not to complain because a burlesque aspect was given by ''Eyewitness" to his version of his socalled "newspaper" fracas in the Waikato Mad office. Ido not deny that it possessed its ludicrous side. The cream of the joke was in the lessee of a building who had paid his rent to that date, and got a receipt, being locked out of his own premises. Nevertheless the affair waa serious enough to me, however amusing and gratifying ifc may have been to your correspondent. But there are one or two errors in his account which I respectfully ask you to permit me to correct. JFirst of all I was not in the angry fume your correspondent represents, though I do , not deny my feelings were a good deal ruffled. In the next, it was not "a youth named Jonea" who first entered bv the window. Jones is a full grown man. 1 think anyone who has known me for any length of time will admit that I am nut likely to let a " youth named Jones" take the lead where I was myself afraid to go first. Your correspondent is in error. I broke the window, unlatched it, while "Jones" held ifc up. The others came in by the doors, after I had opened them from the inside. There was no excitement about the matter. It was all done too rapidly to allow the men inside to resist my entrance, or they might have given me a rather warm reception. — I am, &c, Ciias. 0. Montbose.
