Garrard and the Unemployed. Auckland, Last Night. Gakrard is carrying' round a petition j'or work to which he has obtained about eighty Mtrnatuies. He intends Fending it to Wellington.
The Body of McGrarry Found. The body of McG-arry, the missing man, has beeu found floating near Tin tin.
The Board of Education. The Board of Education h.is refected the lecommencLthon of the school conference re holidays adopted in place of minor suggestions.
The Grammar School Governors. At a meeting of the Grammer School, the governois to-day stated that they understood boys in warehouses were being induced to sign memorial to the house of representatives in favor of alteration in constitution board of syovernoi s. The chairman said that for every signature obtained to such petition ten could be got against it.
Alleged Rape. A man named Jas. Walker, in the employ of Peters, Miranda, has been arrested on a charge of rape on Peteis' daughter home months ago. She says she did not inform before because she had no mother, nor female to confide in, but as soon as her father married again she told her stepmother.
The Alleged Case of Arson. The charge against Bindon for alleged arson is proceeding at the Police Court. Hughes and Butter, of the Fire Brigade, deposed to finding kerosene about the place in isolated spots. There were three separate outbreaks of fire found.
Christcliurch, Last Night. The Rotomahana to-day took five shorthorn heifers from Threlkeld's herd for John Harding's farm, near Napier; also the bull Commander-in-Chief and a prize heifer for Harding's farm, North Auckland.
New Coursing Ground. Efforts are being made to form a company for the purpose of establishing a coursing 1 ground on the model of the JPlumpton ground, England*
"Munificent Gifts towards the Jewish Synagogue. Wellington, Last Night. Mr Jacob Joseph has given £200 and Mr Joseph Nathan £100 to clear off the debt of £300 on the Jewish Synagogue here.
