Practical Hints on Making Purchases,
NEVER buy , an article unless you require it, and unless you are a judge of the goods you really require. Give your orders only to those who treat all alike — who will serve a child the sam 6 as those who make their bargain. Do not be deluded by sham advertisements of thoHe who aayjthey are direct importers, and therefore in a position to sell cheaper than all others who are not ; for if such an assertion be strictly honest, the importer for a retail trade would actually pay more for his goods when delivered than he who made his purchases through warehousemen who buy from manufactwers, which the retail trader cannot. These remarks are intended solely for the trade in drapery. Never buy goods that you do not know the value ©f from those who attract attention by making a lead of a few special articles, cutting them at or below cost, imagining customers will consider their other goods equally cheap, for such loss must be compensated for. The undersigned professes to take a reasonable profit off every article he sells ; as he studies doing a safe trade at small expense, a reasonable profit pays him. Customers not having to pay for special gifts made to a few, each may depend upon receiving full value for his or her money. Advertiser does not claim to be the only one in Waikato who endeavours to treat every customer fair, neither does he profess to give better value than all others ; that he leaves for the public to judge. All requiring Drapery, such as Blankets, Rugs, Quilts, Toilet Covers, Towels, Antiinacassors, Flannels, Shirting, Ticking, Calico, Sheeting, Cretonne, Table Linen, Table Covers, Holland, Diaper, Turkey Twill, Curtains ; or Ladies' Ware, such as Dress Stuffs, Wool Plaids, Winceys, Waterproof Tweed, Wool Squares, Aprons, Underclothing, Corsets, Skirts, Shawls, Mantles. Ulsters, Gloves, Frilling, Fringe, Embroidery, Ribbon, Hosiery; or Men's and Boys' Ware, such as Suits, Overcoats, Tweed Pants, Mole Pants', Drill Pants, Singlets, Shirts, Collars, Scarfs, Shirt Studs, Hats, Caps, Braces, Belts, Socks, Real Mosgiel Tweed and Serge, BOOT 3 OF NEW ZEALAND MANUFACTURE, Might do worse than inspect the same at HATRICK'S New Drapery Store, adjoining Bank of New Zealand, Hamilton. Purchase or not, all will receive at least civility. Those a distance from Hamilton, who cannot conveniently select their Goods personally, may depend upon having their orders carefully and punctually attended to by J. R. E. HATRICK, Hamilton.
