The Licensing Court. At the^ 'Licensing. Court to-day, the license applied for by Mrs Hedley, for an Hotel at Mount Eden, -was opposed by the residents, and refused^by the Bench. All the other renewals were granted.

The Recent Rains. ,'« >;i The recent rains have brought down the much needed supply of logs to the various Mills. .The Union Sash and Door Company advjeep state,, that between 3000 and 4000 logs have arrived at their several sawmills on the East and West Coast. ' '

New Zealand Frozen Meat Company. Inveroargill, Last -Night. At a meeting held to-day of the prornoteis of a company for exporting frozen meat, the prospectus was adopted, and directors 5 ' appointed. The capital is £10,000.

Supreme Court Registrar. r Dttnedi.v, Last Night. Mr Brewer has been appointed Registrar of the Supreme Court, Auckland.

Incendiarism. Ciiristchurch, Last Night. At the KM. Court to-day, 'John Douglas, alias Henry Breen, was committed for trial for setting fire to, a house, the property of William Stoddart, east of town belt; also, for wilfully setting fire to one of a block of four new unoccupied houses at Oxford Terrace, the property of William Brice.
