HARAPEPE. School Matters.
A MKETiNU of the District School Committee was held on Saturday evening the 2Sth. The meeting was called to discuss a letter from the Board of Education, proposing, on account of the small attendance of children at the two schools of Harapepe and Te Rore, to curtail the expenses, by making them half-time schools, one teacher to to teach both. The Committee decided to request the Board to defer any alteration if possible until the end of the quarter ; the Committee in the meantime promising to use every exertion to induce a better attendance of children. The clergy of all denominations seem to have forgotten us, as it is many months now since we had a visit from one. It seems, from what I can hear, that since the Key. Mr Bruce left, there is but one Presbyterian Minister for the whole of the Waikato and Waipa Districts, and it is quite impossible for one to attend to it all. The Te Eore bridge is fast arriving at completion, and will in a short time be open for traffic. The wheater in this district for a long while past, has been all that could be de* sired for out of door work, and for sportsmen also, — (Communicated.)
