LATER PARTICULARS. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH, OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Tauranga, Last Night.

The destructive fire at Tauranga last night is supposed to have originated in Lee's stoic on the Strand about 8 o'clock. The following and adjoining houses were successively destroyed before 11 o'clock : — Left of Lee's : Carter, bookseller ; Ellis, shoemaker ; Tanranga Hotel (Menzies proprietor, Chadwick owner). Then up Harrington-street, first came the Tuna office, and next Thomas Wngley's new stove and dwelling-house. Three walls of Wrigley's buildings Avere brick and the xoof corrugated iron, but nothing could withstand the flames. Opposite the Tuna> office, Jordan's stores and offices caught fire, either trom embers blown about by the stormy wind, which was blowing north by east, or from the intense heat. The opposite buildings, and in a very short space of time, all buildings m that block were perfectly bwept away. All aie new stores lately elected, and among the rest the Mechanic's Institute on right of Jordan's. The following stores and houses were destroyed. Bonner, bootmaker, Fielding; McKenny's boarding-house ; Rhodes, bootmaker and general goods store. Rhodes' being at the corner of Ham-lLton-stieet, the file turned up that street and destroyed some houses by Douglas', of Motiti, opposite to Rhodes, at the corner of Hamilton-street, near Bath's store and bakery, but by the continued exertions of the people, and a free application ot water, an unlimited supply being close at hand, the buildings were kept saturated until the fire spent itself.
