Land League Meetings prohibited. London, May 26.
Notwithstanding tbe arrests which have been made in Ireland under the Coercion Act, the power of the Laud League continues to be felt throughout the country. Meetings under its auspices are stilL held in agitation of the land question, and it is rumoured that the Government, in consequence, intends to mHtni3t the Viceroy to nrohibit all meetings of the League in Ireland.
London, May 27. In the House of Commons to-day, a question wai put to the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies regaiding the information which has trauspired as to certain expenditure incurred by the Treasurer and Controller of Revenue in Western Australia without due authority. In reply, Mr. Grant Duff haid the circumstances connected with the unauthorised payments have been under the consideration of the Government, and instructions would be sent to the Governor of th.ic colony with the view to prevent any irregularities in the expenditure of public money by the Treasurer.
