Riot and Bloodshed. London, May 28. News to hand from Ireland reports that serious riota occurred at Michelstown, County Cork, at which 12,000 peasants assembled to oppose the service of writs for ejectment upon some tenants. Upon the police arriving on the scene, fighting of a very severe character took place. After much bloodshed on both sides, the rioters were dispersed, and the evictions of the tenants finally completed.

The Land League. The Irish Land League is daily increasing the agitation through the country, and showing that it will oppose any attempt to prohibit meetings.

The Land Bill. Mr Gladstone announced in the House of Commons that the Ministry will stake the existence of the Government on the passing of the Irish Land Bill.

Priest Arrested for Sedition. The arrest of Father Sheehy is reported for inciting disturbance by making use of seditious language.

Further Excitement and Hostility. Increased excitement exists in li'eland. Four hundred soldiers, who were enforcing evictions m Tipperary were badly treated by the peasantry. The soldiers in defence were about to use their firearms when seveial priests rushed in front of the levelled rifles and guaranteed to keep order.
