COMMERCIAL. Waikato Times Office, Friday Evening.

WHATAWHATA CATTLE SALE. At the Whatawhata quarterly sale held on Saturday last only 40 he.id of cattle were yarded, rhcre was a small attendance of buyers, and what few stock were sold brought low prices.

OHAUPO LIVE STOCK SALE. At the Ohaupo Live Stock Sale on Monday last 213 head of cattle were yarded, principally two to thrce-yeai-old stctrs in forward^ condition, and of a better class than usual. There was a lai go attendance of buyers, and prices for all classes of cattle were a shade better ; 43 head were reserved and 170 sold. Dairy cows brought from L 6 to L 9 12s 6d, and two cows at their profit, and of extra good quality, sold by Mr A. Ramsey, Rangiaohia, brought Lv and Ln 5s respectively ; hand-fed calves, Li 18s to L 2 8s ; two-year-old heifers, L 3 to Lj; twenty months to two-year-old steers, L 4 to L| ics; two to three-year-old steers, L 4 jos to L 6 ?s 6d, depending on condition and quality ; fat steers, light weights, L 6 zs 6dto L 6 12s 6d, fat heifers, good quality, L 6 2s 6d each. Sheep' 105 were penned and sold. Store merinos brought 4s Od ; aged longwoolled ewes, 8s o.d; fat hall-bred wethers, 10s 3d to ijs each.

AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. Mr Alfred Auckland's AVcekl} Report.— At the Greyhound Yards on Friday May 20, fodder was plentiful, nearly ioo loads being sold Oaten-hay brought from 2s 6d to 3s 6d; meadow, 2s 3d to 3s 6d; and clo\er, 4s per cwt.; carrots, 4* ; mangolds and turnips, is6d per bag ; maize — weavily, 2s 66. per bushels. Horses were yarded in limited numbers, the Wang-anui horses advertised not having arrived in time for the sale. Draught horses brought from L2l to_ L4l 10s ; lighht backs and harness horses (inferior), L 4 15s to L9 15s each. None of Mr. Smiths thoroughbred stock were disposed of. X.intippe was the first brought forward, and L 56 wot. offered for her, but was withdrawn, the oa\ ncr wanting L6O. The sum of Ll2O was bid for lim Whifiler, but as the owner required L3OO he was also withdrawn. Maid of Honour was the nc\t offered, and the bid soon ran up to 1.490, but as Mr. Smith reserved her at L7OO she had to follow the others. The youngsters were withdrawn. At the Haymarket, on Wednesday, hides and skins were in lull quality. Hides brought 3d to 3s g-i6d the lb.; skins, is 4d to 3s 6d each; wool, in grease, 6ld to 6jd the lb.; tallow, 23s to 18s the cwt. At the special sale at \V. Nichols's farm, Mangare, on Monday last, theie was a veiy numerous attendance. Prices were very good throughout, particularly for the cattle, which sold considerably higher than at the ordinary matkets. At Papakura, on Wednesday, 95 cattle were yarded, the greater portion calves and yearlings, for which there was good competition at improved values. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were numerous, but not of very choice quality ; prices slightly lower. Store cattle in limited number, and at late values. Fat cattle were m moderate supply, and generally of good quality. Prices •were steady, between 22s and 24s the loolbs. Sheep: Market lull, and last week's values; from 2jd to 2?d the lb. obtained. Lambs more numerous than for several weeks, and brought from 7s to tos 6d each. Pigs unusually plentiful, and at lower values as the sale proceeded. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report.— Horses : The supply has been numerically good, but the demand was slack. Only an average number were submitted by auction at the Durham Yard* on Friday, but bidding was slow, and a few remained unsold. THAMES CATTLE MARKET. Messrs B.inks and Co.'s Weekly Report.— At Pamwai, on Ihun.d.iy, fat cattle were in aver.ige supply ; the quality, though perhaps not quite up to the usual st.ind.ird, being; very lair for sever.il of the better lots. The bidding; was spirited, and fully 26s per 1 oolbs was obtained, but for inferior quality there was little demand, and consequently prices were low. Sheep were plentiful, mostly of secondary quality, but the demand being better than usiul, they sold freely at 3d per Ib. A useful saddle horse brought L 7 2s 6d ; a set of iron harrows, in good repair, L 2 12s 6d; barley, 2s 6c! per bushel.
