COLONIAL BANKING BUSINESS.
The total liabilities of banking companies doing business in New Zealand, for the quarter ending 31st March last, amounts to £10,334,147; the assets representing £14,028,605. The capital accounts and profits of the several banks are as follow :—: — Bank of New Zealand : £1,000,000 paid-up capital ; 15 per cent, per annum last dividend paid ; amount of last dividend declared, £75,000 ; amount of reserve fund at time of declaring such dividend, £653,337 6s 9d. Union Bank: £1,500,000; 16 per cent, dividend ; last declared dividend, £120,000 ; reserve fund, £952,105 9s 7d. Bank of New South Wales: £1,000,000 ; 17$ per cent. ; last declared dividend, £87,500; reservefund, £585,023 Us 6d. Bank op Australasia : £1,200,000 ; 12 per cent. ; last declared dividend, £72,000 ; reserve fund, £441,334 19s Id, National Bank: £350,000; 6 per cent. ; last declared dividend, £10,500 ; reserve fund, £22,028 16a 6d. Colonial Bank : £400,000 ;' 6 per cent. ;' last declared dividend, £12,000 ; reserve fund, £41,943 7s lid.
