CATTLE IMPOUNDING AT NGARUAWAHIA.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — 1 observe a notice from the Poundkeeper, Ngaruawahia, dated the 12th May, describing the marks of a steer that has been taken to the pound by a native whose name is Iri-Whata. I object to the above notice as the said native has neither business nor richt to take the steer to the pound. I can prove the steer has been running on the run of the whole block for the last 18 months, and not enclosed in any paddock about here. The beast does not belong to me nor any one about here, but I wish to see things right, and had I known that he was going to take it to the pound I would not allow him to take him. I wish the poundkeeper to let tho beast go free, and not pay any money to the above mentioned native, as dated* in the notice. — I am, &c, A. K. Barton. Karakanki, May 13, 1881.
