NATIVE LAND COURT, CAMBRIDGE.
TllK sitting of the Court was broueht to a close on Saturday afternoon. Before the formal adjournment was made, Mr Sheehan on behalf of himself and the other agents — Native and European — tendered hearty thanks to the presiding: judge and officers for the patience and impartiality they had dibplayed throughout the whole of the sitting. Messrs. Maukay and Grace the native agents and a number of the leading natives present in Court, likewise concurred in the remarks made by Mr Sheehan. The judge after acknowledging the compliment, formally adjourned the Court for a period three months.
With regard to the result of the business the following may be set down as tho correct summary : — Linds passed at the previous Court 1 13,000 acres, of which 28,000 represented the Government claim, and over whish a complete title was only obtained at this Court. Lands partially p.i^ed at List Court and now finally passed, 142,000 acres. Land passed from puiely native title to European tenure 10S,000 acres, making a totdl of •304,000 acres brought under operations of the Crown, which together with sub-di-visions aud succession orders made by the Court representing 1 4,000 acres additional, msikes the grand total of the land finally, dealt with 503,000 acres. The li-t of cases set down for hearing amounted in all to 90, of which only one was left unfinished.
