Dk, Piiilson has successfully operated on Mr Chilman, a Waikato schoolmaster, for cancer. There arc eight cases of typhoid fever in the Hospital. At the "North Auckland Cattle Board meeting to-day the Inspector informed the Boaid that he had lately inspected Mr Ireland's cattle at Panmure, and that the cattle were free from disease. The Board unanimously resolved to communicate with the Government, and l'ecommend that the North Auckland Cattle District be declared free from disease. A telegram from the Government was laid before the Board, notifying that the Wellington Cattle Board had decided to keep in quarantine for thirty days all cattle arriving at Wellington from Victoria. In the Supreme Court the Judge gave a verdict tor the full amount claimed (£722), in the case of Palmer (Mahuvangi) I'imtb Bruce (Timaru). The Board of Education have accepted Mr Macflarlane's tender (£258) for the new school at Te Rahu ; the tender (£250) by Hinder being irregular.
