Wellington, Last Night.
The report of the officers appointed to inquire into the charges against Firth, Property Tax Collector, at Pelorus Sound tor alleged alteration of valuation, lies been received by Government, and it is understood that it declares charges not proved. However, Firth has been officially repremanded for remaining drunk at the public-house, and also for the manner in which he drew up a certain statutory declaration in connection with the charges. Messrs Bunny and Beetham, M'H.E.. 'a addressed their constituents at Masterton last night. A vote of thanks was accorded.
