THE HAMILTON RAILWAY BJRIDGR.
Mr. J. B. Whyte, M.H.R., has been in correspondence "-with* "the Government regarding the delay in the arrival of the material for the Hamilton Railway Bridge, the cause of which has not before been satisfactorily explained. The Premier, writing to Mr. Whyte under date the sth instant, encloses the following extract from a letter sent by the Agent-General, which will remove all misapprehension : — With reference to the shipment of the cylinders for the Hamilton Bridge, I have to report that a barge containing a number of the segments was sunk in the River Thames. Some of these were recovered in time for shipment by the Avona, with the main number ; but about 23 have still to be shipped, and some of them being fractured, have to be remanufactured. Every possible step has been taken to avoid any more delay in the shipment than is absolutely necessary under the circumstances.
