Destuructive Fire at Panmure. Auckland, Last Night.
The -whole of Mr Ireland's, tanners, building 1 ? at Pan mure, including a large amount^ of leather m store, was burnt down. The fire was discovered shortly after one o'clock this morning, and had then obtained such a hold that it could not be got under. Mr Ireland and his foreman believe the fire ia the work of incendiuism. The loss is some thousands in excess of insurances, which are as follows : — New Zealand, £3500 ; Union, £700 ; Standard, * £350 ; Transalantic, £800; Victoria, £300; North British, £700; National, £300. The Jockey Club met to-day to consider stiffening of Golden Crown at Panmure. Having heard the statements of Byers, Menzies, Donelly, and Lyons, it was agreed to disqualify the horse Golden Crown, the owner, Byors, and the jockey, who is a eon of tho owner, for ever from taking part in any race in connection with the Auckland Hating Clnb, or any course Avhere the rule 1 ? of the Club aro enforced.
