THE LATE CRICKET MATCH.

TO THE EDITOE. Sir, — I have been requested by representatives of Waipa County team in this neighbourhood to write to you regarding the match flayed at Cambridge on Saturday." Waikato County may have been properly represented, but to call their opponents a Waipa County team is certainly a misnomer, as any cricketer may see by glancing at the list of the players as published in your paper. To make the matter still more clear, I may say that after the last match of the Alexandra C.C. v. Cambridge, the Cambridge captain, not satisfied -with a victory over only 8 men, with rather bad taste called for "three cheers for Waipa, 'J tjius insinuating his belief , that the 8 men were county players. Not one of these 8 men took part in the match, because they were' not consulted in the matter, nor represented at the meeting which fixed the day for the match. Had they invite,^ to ,a, meeting they wpnld have" had no" cause to grumble, but they object to the way Cambridge takes matters into their own hands. If the Cambridge team were genuine cricketers, they would return our visits with the readiness we have always shown in paying visits to them. It was also agreed lastyear that this year's county match should be played as a return match on Waipa '. territory. Trusting you will kindly find space fo the above. — lam, yours &c, J. C. Grierson I ,' Captain, Alexandra C.C. Alexandra, April 6th.
