Major Atkinson addressed his con* stituents at New Plymouth this evening. After he had concluded his address the following resolution: was;prpposecl by Mr W. K. An amendment of. thanks ana confidence was moved by Mr Oliver Samuel, and carried almost unanimously. The speech was practically the same as that a digest' of which was telegraphed from Patea. ■ Speaking in answer to Mr Waterhouse with reference to the contrast of New Zealand's income with that of England and [France, .Major Atkinson asserted the. correctness of his own con-^ tention,' and quoted McCullougli as hit authority.
