Auckland, Last Night.

A max named Bruce, a shoemaker at Newton, reported to the police that his house was broken into, and a cash-box containing £14 stolen. An unsuccessful attempt was made to burn the house down. The police are investigating the affair. At Waiheke, a man named John Nottnian was thrown from his horse and dragged some distance, breaking both his legs. Samuel Brown has been committed for trial on three charges of theft. The proprietor of the diorama has been fined £o for holding a lottery. A miner at Coromandel, named Bourkc, working as a tributor in the Queen of the North claim, disappeared in a mysterious manner on Saturday last. He was last seen washing a prospect near the workings. His coat, candles, and tools were found at the workings when his absence from home was first discovered. About 100 men are out searching for traces of him.
