TAURANGA, Thursday. The annual regatta was held to-day. There was a large attendance. The feature was the canoe race, 20 paddles, each dress in Maori fashion, and after a Tcry exciting 1 race, it was won by the Judea natives, by half a length. After the race the winners danced a haka in honour of their triumph. In the sailing races, the Auckland boats were beaten.

Champion Sculling Match. A good deal of interest is taken in the forthcoming champion sculling match between White, of Mercury Bay, and Dun. can, of Christeharch. The betting ia in favour of Duncan.

It is currently reported here that Sullivan, the New Zealand murderer, died in the hospital at Wagga Wagga last week.
