[BY TELEGRAPH. -HPRE6S ASSOCIATION.] , Duotsdin, Tuesday. This morning the Governor was driven aa far as Blueskin, and, after a visit to the Botanical Gardens, in the afternoon a levee took place at the Town Hall, when an address of welcome was presented by the City Council, to which the Governor made the following: reply :— " I thank you for your address and cordial welcome, as well for the wish you express that I should not ouly re-visit the district but «hould spend some time annually in tha Southern part of New Zealand. My present stay among you is necessarily short, but it is impossible to pay even the most hurried visit to your city without being ' struck by its rapid deveiopement and the activity of industry which pervades it, or without deriving from the fact the fullest conviction that no temporary oheok can seriously retard the progress of this colony."
