HARAPEPE.

The adjourned meeting to elect a new school committee was held on Saturday last, the 26th, in the School-house, Harapepe. A great deal of apathy exists in the district on educational matters. As it was long after the time advertised before enough ratepayers attended to elect a new committee ; in fact it was more a committee meeting than a public one, as with but one exception the whole of those present were the old committee, who elected themselves in again, as there was no other alternative. In fact it was a very slow affair altogether. I think we want some new blood in the district j perhaps the new bridge and the sale of the Government lands will do some good. "Work at the Te Rore Bridge is now going ahead, and it is said the structure will be finished in three months ; rather quick work I think. — [Own Correspondent, March 2.]
