THE NATIVE LANDS COURT, CAMBRIDGE. The Patetere Block.
The Court re-assembled yesterday, at 10 o'clock, but without transacting any business, was adjourned again until 2. At that Bitting, Mr Gill as agent for the Crown, applied to have the interests of Government ascertained in the Patetero Block, Hamiora Mangakahia and Mr James Maokay, appeared for a portion of the Ngatiraukawa tnbe, who dispute tteir liability to refund any portion of the sera of £11,034 advanced by Government in anticipation of the purchasers of the block, alleging that the Government is liable for a sum of £6335, being seven years rental of a lease said to be held by them over the lands, and which they insist should be made a set-off against the Government claim. Mr John Sheehan appeared for other members of the tribe by whom no ouch objection is made, and who are perfectly willing the refund should be allowed, and the value thereof, appropriated by the Government in land.
