CHEAP LIME FOR WAIKATO.
Education Department, Wellington, January 19, 1881. Sir,— l have the honor, by direction of the Mjnistcr of Education, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of date as per margin, addressed to the members of the Council of the Unjversjty, and asking whether 40 acres of the University Reserve at Karamu, could be leased toyou. I am to inform you that the leasing of tho University Receives is vested in the Government, and that the Government does not consider it advisable to lease the Reserve in question, or any portion of it at the present time. — I have the honor to be, Sir, your obedient servant, John Hislop.
