Mr Parnell moved an amendment, of which he had given notice to the effect that peace in lichiud would not be promoted by suspending the existing laws. He addressed the House at i-ome length, 'but Only spoke in moderate teims in dofence of the Irish Land League, the object of which was, he explained, to force landlords to 1 educe lents. Mr Forster, the Chief Secretary of ' Ireland, also spoke in strong terms. He , defended the decision that the Government applied coeicion as being the remedy )i for the agitation iv Ireland. ' The debate now stands adjourned till the 10th. 0 A Bill to repiess corrupt practices at elections has been introduced into I'.uhament. It contains clauses fixing he. uy penalties for bnbeiy or other conupt acts. An Iri-'h Land Bill has been biought in by the Government, but it is not generally approved of by the Liberal '"xarty, severnl mcmbeis of both Houses having expressed consiclcvable discontent 1 with the provisions of the measure. In consequence of continued urging on the Greek Poweis the Ottoman and Greek Governments have consented to le-consider their decision in refusing the proposed arbitration of the I'oweis for settlement of the Turko-Greek frontier question.
