THE LATEST. Colonel Carrington's Position Strengthened.

Capk Town, January 4. News has been received from Basutoland that a patrolling force of the Cape Rifles, under Colonel Carrington, safely returned to camp at Mafeting, after having come up with a convoy of provisions and armw, ammunition which had been despatched from head-quarters for the use of tho garrison. The arrival of the convoy materially strengthened Colonel Carrington's position. Further news Rhows that the recent defeats of the Busutos' pondomies and tambookies by Colonial troops have had a good effect on other tribes of Tembus, who had aho joined the rebellion, but who are now yielding in large numbers, the tribes having recently submitted to the Cape forces operating against them.
