THE CAMBRIDGE JOCKEY CLUB SUMMER MEETING.

Tnß entries for these events, to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, the 12th and 13th of next month, will close on the 31st inßt., and owners of horses have therefore very little time to lose. There are altogether twelve events, and the total money to be run for amounts to about £430, of which 10 per cent, will be deducted in each race for second horse. The arrangements of the events is in many respects admirable. In three races the prizes are sufficiently valuable to secure the presence of good horses, while in the others an opportunity will be given to owners of local stock to pull off something for their trouble. The Maiden Hurdle Race on the second day is especially well adapted for settlers with a love for sporfc. The raise is open only to horses that have never won an advertised hurdle race of over 10 soys. (gentlemen riders.) The prize is a beautifully embossed silver cup (the gift ©f Mr Lewisson, jeweller, of Auckland), with 15 soys. added money. In all likelihood this will be one of the best races of the day, provided aa they ought to be, the entries are numerous. With the accompaniment of fine weather, the Summer Meeting of 1881 promises to eclipse any of its predecessors. Blue Gown.
