THE PARIHAKA MEETING.

[by telegraph, pkehs association*.] New Plymouth, Yesterday. The Parihaka meeting was small. Te Whitis' speech was of no po'itical bignificance, and no allusion was made to the c Ngamu murder. The meeting wasof short duration, and the few natives who had visited Parihaka soon dispersed. Only one or two Europeans were present. To Whiti called them a deceitful and lying lot of people, but said that Jehovah had taken them under His protection, and bade them cease fearing for the result. In conclusion, ho said that those who had escaped prison were reposing quietly, and the land was lying in the same place as of old, and that when he first arose the latter would ber<t"rncd to them. Both Te Whiti aud Tuhi strongly deprecated the auctions of land, and the latter spoke of them aB equal in badness to a war, but bade them not interfere.

Mr E. B.
