Brown : He is going to give the public a treat, such as never before was given to the people of Waikato. Jones: And what does the Programme consist of ? Beown: Every amusement; Races of every description, Flat and Hurdle Athletic Competition, Threelegged and Wheelbarrow Races, Pig with greasy tail, &c, &c. Jones : Oh, indeed ! Well, I'll tell the boys. We will all be there.

PROGRAMME. 1. Handicap Hurdle Race of 12 soys. Twice round course ; over 8 flights of hurdles, 3ft. 6in. high. 2. Maiden Plate. For three-year-olds and upwards that have never won public money. Weight for age. For 5 soys. 3. Whatawhata Handicap. Distance, twice round course. For 12 soys.

4. Pony Race. Distance, 1 mile; weight for inches. For 5 aovs. 0. Hack Race* For horses that have been the bona Jide property of settlers for three months before the races, within a radius of five miles, and horses that hare never run in a race. Welter weights, 11 stone top weight. For 5 aovs. 6. Maori Race. 7. Consolation Handicap- Distance, 1 mile. First race to start at 12.30. Three horses to start or no race. Nominations for Hurdle and Handicap to be in by Monday, 20th inst. Weights to be decided next issue after nomination. General entry and acceptances to be in by Monday, 27th inst. Nomination, 7s 6d ; acceptance, sb. P S. — All protests to be accompanied with a deposit of £1, which will be forfeited to the race fund should the stewards consider the protests f rivolos or vexatious. The rules of the Auckland Club will b« adherod to.
