Auckland, Last Night. At the inquest on Brown, receiver on the wharf, Dr Dawaon gave evidence that he had tested for poison without effect. He believed death had resulted from serous apoplexy. The Auckland Cup is looked upon as a certainty for Betrayer or Foul Play's stables. Commissioner took 600 to 150 about former, and 400 to 100 about latter. Antoinette is scratched for all en. gagements at the Dunedin Meeting.
Cambridge, Last Night. A cricket match was played here this afternoon in the Government paddock, Waitoa against the local Club, when the former won by 27 runs. Waitoa went first to the wickets and scored 45, and in their second innings 108 ; Cambridge scored 70 and 56.
The Opunake Murder. Wellington, Last Night. The Judges have made the necessary order for the removal of the murderer Tuhi to Wellington, and the Hinemoa is only waiting for the weather to moderate to embark him at Opunake.
The Unemployed. It is now decided to reduce the rates of Say for unemployed from 4s 8d to 4s per ay for married men.
Gisborne, Last Night. 'I he barque Lochnagar was successfully floated last evening, and anchored in the bay.
The Prospectors' Claim. Grahamstown, Last Night. This afternoon McSweeny, one of the prospectors, just arrived from Te Aroha, having ridden down in a little over four hours. He reports the reef in Prospectors' stripped 12 feet, showing gold t^e whole distance. The Morxing Light Claim has driven in 30 teet, and the reef cut shows gold plainly.
