WAITOA HIGHWAY BOARD.

Tenders.

rpENDERS are required for Tenders X Nos. 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. No. 8. Road from Morrinsville to Richmond. This contract comprises 2 bridges, and 7 culverts, from 3ft to 18 inches, besides pipe drains, outfalls, side drains, cuttings, &c., &c, and extends over six miles in length. No. 9. Painting the bridges over the Piako river (2), Waitoa, Piakoiti, Topihaehae (2), and Waitakaruru Creeks— -7 in all. No. 10. Cuttings on the Gorge road. No. 11. Ploughing, clearing, and levelling main road between Waitoa and Pirauniu streams, about 80 chains. No. 12. Carting about 300 yards of earth on to road to the diggings near Thames river. Tenders are to be in by noon of Saturday, the 18th inst., (the time for No. 8 Contract being extended from the 4th to the 18th inst., addressed "The Chairman Waitoa Highway Board, Morrinsville." Specifications to be seen at the Nottingham Castle Hotel. All information to be ohtained from the Engineer of the Board. (By order)

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with Clause 132 ot the " Aluuicipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Statement of Accounts for the Half-year ending 30th September, 1880, having been Audited; are now open for Inspection at this Office during office hours. The following Amendment to By-law No. 2 of the Borough of Hamilton is hereby published in conformity with clause 340 sub-section 5 " Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and by resolution of the Council made on the 29th of November, 1880, will be enforced on and after the 9th day of December, 1880.

J. M. GELLING, Town Clerk. AMENDMENT TO BY-LAW No. 2, BOROUGH OF HAMILTON. Made in accordance with " The Slaughter-houses Act, 1877," by special order of the Hamilton Borough Council,

dated the 10th day of September, 1880 ; confirmed on the Bth day of October, 1880 ; and sealed with the common seal of the said Council on the Bth day of October, 1880. To prohibit the slaughtering of cattle, sheep, goats, or swine, in such places within the Borough as the Council may think proper, and to grant Licenses for Slaughter-houses, and regulate and fix the fees to bo paid to the Borough Council Fund for such Licenses, aud regulate the Slaughtering of Animals therein in such manner as the Council may think fit. 1. On and after the Ist of November, 1880, no person shall keep a Slaughterhouse or place for slaughtering catde intended for sale, barter, or exportation, ex. cept such house or place be duly licensed for that purpose in the manner hereinafter provided. 2. Every person who shall slaughter, or cause to be slaughtered, any cattle, sheep, or piajs, aa aforesaid, in any house or place within the Borough of Hamilton, not being a duly licensed Slaughter-house, or place contrary to the provisions of these By-laws, shall forfeit and pay the sum of Five Pounds for every huch offence. 3. Every license shall be in force from tho date thereof until the 31st day of December next following, aod the person to whom the same shall be granted shall pay to the Town Clerk the sum of £3 3b for every such license. 4. For the purpose of preserving 1 cleanliness in licensed Slaughter-houses or places, it shall be lawful for any person appointed by the Council to visit and inspect any Slaughter-house or place for slaughtering cattle within the Borough, and to give such directions concerning the cleansing of such Slaughterhouse or place for slaughtering cattle, both within and without, aa to himself shall seem needful. 5. If any butcher, or the owner or occupier of any such Slaughter-house, or place for slaughtering cattle, shall obstruct or molest such constable in the inspection thereof, or shall refuse or neglect to comply with such directions within a reasonable time, every such person, upon conviction upon the information of such constable, shall forfeit and pay for every such offenoe or neglect, any sum not exceeding Five Pounds. 6. That nothing hereinbefore contained shall extend to any person or persons slaughtering at his or her own residence or farm cattle for his or her own use. 7. It shall be lawful for the Borough Council, if they shall see occasion to do so, to prescribe the hours within which any such cattle shall be slaughtered, and to enforce any regulations so to be made in that behalf by a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds. 8. All fees payable to the Borough Council under the authority of these Bylaws shall be accounted for and paid to the Treasurer of the Borough Council for the public use of the said Borough and for the support of the government thereof. 9. All fines and penalties imposed under the authority of the By-laws shall be recoverable in a summary way. 10. For the purposes of these By-laws, the word "cattle" (unless otherwise expressly stated) shall be taken to include horned or neat cattle, sheep, goats, and swine ; and the B trough Council may be represented in any proceedings taken under these By-laws by the Mayor or the Town Clerk for the time being J.
