Notwithstanding her enormous exports, America has lately been increasing 1 her imports m a far larger ratio. Fur the 12 months ending 30 June, 1880, the inrrease of exports was £25,000,000 sterling but the increase of imports was no lees than £44,000,000 sterling-. While her exports increased 18 per cent., her imports had increased 50 per cent.
