Hnrse stock of medium strength were in good request, all offered finding bin ers. Prucs ranged fiom £o to £20 each. A spring cart and harness brought /,*2S. On Tuesday, hides were in full number and improxed inquiry ; those best cured brought from i,'cl to 4d vioths cadi. Tallow, 23s 6d the cwt.; lambskins, is 7d; sheepskins, in full wool, from 4s yd to 7s odeac h ; wool, in grease, 7^d to oW ; locks and pieces, ?^d and 4d the lb.— At Papakura, on Wednes(Uj, the usual number of cattle were not yarded, lliose brought forward obtained a brisk sale at good prices.— At Remuera, on Ihursday, dairy cow.s were dull of h.ile, but store cattle in good inquiry. Fat cattle in full numbers, 178 yarded : prices were lower than last week, and ranged fiom 22s for ship-borne to 26s for best quality Auckland-tatted cattle. Sheep were in moderate number, and an advance of 2s per head was obtained ; good wethers were at 2-{d the lb. Pigs of good quality in good demand. Missus HuVier and Noun's Weekly Report.— Horses : About an average amount of business has been done, with no remarkable change as to value. Wool.— Our first sale of the series was held on Monday, wnen 150 bales and bags of wool were disposed of at prices highly satisfactory to the grower. There was evidence of a slight improvement in the staple of long^wool. and breeders are realising the benefit of introducing better strains of blood. The competition was brisk throughont the sale. Washed wool ranged from i2?d to \s\& ; greasy, from 8d to oj. SHceoskins sold at from V s to 6s 4d ; hides, 4d per lb. Cattle. — There has been increased vitaliiy in the market. Dairy and store stock have maintained their values, and fat beasts were a shade higher than the previous week, There was a fnll supply at Newmarket on Tuesday, and competition was good throughout the sale There was a good advance in the price of ship-borne beasts as compared with last week, but it was not so noticeable in provinai.il. Beef sold at from 24s to 28s per toolbs. Dairy cows were in moderate supply, and sold at from £7 10s to £q. Sheep.— The supply was very short, and the prices given could not be taken as a criterion for an advance in the market rate, 2s 8d per lb. having been given for shearlings. Lambs were plentiful, and sold at from 6s 3d to 1 6d. Pigs were tolerably plentiful, but of indifferent description, and prices were consequently low.
