THE LATE HORSE ACCIDENT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — I see by your paper to-day Mr Mofilin has lost a valuable horse through the animal breaking his for© leg, whereby it had to be shot. Now, I don't think it wise to shoot a valuable horse on that account, as in. my opinion a cure can be effected. I will state what came under my own knowledge. Some time ago, a settler living near Ohaupo had a mare that got her hind leg broken above the hoofs. The owner, of course, thinking the animal useless, was going to shoot it, when Mr James Berry, who was there asked to be allowed to take the mare in hand. He did so, and in two months after she broke into my farm and was galloping about with my horses. She limped a little, and I would not have known her leg had been broken had not Mr Berry pointed it out to me when he was catching her. This I can state for a fact, and others can do the same. — I ■ am, &c, H. Roche. ! Te A^Yamutu, November 23, 1880.
