THE GREAT INTERCOLONIAL SCULL ING MATCH. Laycock the Winner.— Hanlan Challenged for the Championship. [Reuters Cablegrams.]

London, November ] 9, Morning 1 . The drawing for the right of competition in two heats of the International Kegatta to be rowed to-day, resulted as follows :—: — First heat: Wallace Ross, Hosmer, Eiley, and Nicholson. Second heat : Laycock, Trickett, Hawdon, and Smith.

London, November 19, afternoon. The first heat in the Regatta to-day whs won by Wallace Ross, with Hosmer second. The second heat was won by Lay cock, with Smith second. In this heat a foul took place between Triokett and Smith, and the former was thus thrown out of the race.

London, November 20. The protest which was entered for foul between Tj ickett and Smith in one of the heats, has been disallowed by the umpires.

FINAL HESTTLTS. The final heat for the American Hop Bitters prize of £1000 was rowed on the Thames to-day, and resulted as follows : — EHas Laycock (Australian) 1 Wallace Ross (American) 2 J. Hosmer (American) 3 Warren Smith (American) 4 Laycock, the Australian oarsman, has challenged Hanlan for the Championship of the world.

laycock's performances. Laycock's Australian performances are well known. He came first into prominence by defeating Eush at the Rocky Mouth Kegatta. He was twice matched against Tnckctt, and easily defeated by the champion on both occasions ; but the latter succumbed to Laycock in a race for the champion belt, rowed at the Sydney Aunivert,ary ticgatta in January, 1576. He sub* e(juently defeated Rush for £200 on the Paramatta River. Laycock went to Melbourne and secured the sculling championship of Victoria, and immediately afterwards left for England. Laycock is now in his 35th year. Since he has been in England he has defeated Blackraan, champion of the Tynein a match for £200, Hosiner (American) for £200, and Rielly (American) for £200. He was matched to row J. H. Hawdon for £200 on November 13, but as we have never received the result, it must be inferred that Hawdon forfeited hit, deposit.
