PRESENTATION TO A. A. FANTHAM, ESQ. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.] [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Auckland, Last Night. A presentation to A. A. Fantham, Esq., was mpde at Hoffmans Rooms this afternoon by Mr Lawry, on behaf of the subscribers, who read an address unanimously adopted by the subscribers at a meeting which took place in the British Hotel, Auckland. The address referred at length to Mr Fanthams services as a member of the Cattle Board in checking the spread of pleuro-pneumonia in the Piako. Mr Fantham was overcome with emotion, and referred to the manner in which he had been led to think of the importance of preventing introduction and spread of infectious cattle diseases in Auckland. In the course of his remarks, he said " I am proud to have my conduct so approved, and am also very thankful for your substantial and useful form, and I do assure you the handsome instrument shall be handed down to my family with pride, and hope it will induce them to do their duty fearlessly in any public capacity that they may be called upon to fulfil. The country is much indebted to the Editor of the Waikato Times for the very truthful reports of meetings of the South Auckland Cattle Board that appeared in the Waikato Times, and for the fearless stand that paper made during the time the pleuro-pneumonia was rife." Votes of thanks to Lawry and Udy, secretary and treasurer, concluded the proceedings.
