Election of Mayor.

In pursuance of the '' Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and the Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876," I, JAMES MANSFIELD GELLING, Returning Officer for the Borough of Hamilton, do hereby gi\c Notice that an Election will be held on WEDNESDAY, the 24th inst., at the Council Chambers, Hamilton, within the said Borough, for tho return of a duly qualified Burgess as Mayor. Candidates will require to be nominated on or befoic Noon of MONDAY, the i-,th inst., and to deposit the sum ot Ten Pounds (£10). Any person nominating a Candidate must delncr at the Council Chambers, before Noon of the day above stated, a Nomination Paper signed b} the person named therein as Candidate, and two pei sons qualified to vote at such Election. Nomination Papers can be obtained on application to the Town Clerk.

T3OROUGH OF HAMILTON. Notice of Proposal to take Land for the purpose of Making the Approach on the West Side to the Hamilton Cart Bridge.

Notice is hereby given that it is proposed under the provisions of the " Public Works Act, 1876" and its Amending Acts, to execute a certain Public woik to wit, the construction of the Approach on the West side the River to the Hamilton Cart Bridge at Richmond-street, Hamilton West, in the County of Waipa Provincial Distiict of Auckland, and for the purpose of such Public AVork the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Council Chambers, Victoria-street, Hamilton "West, and is there open for inspection. And notice is hereby gi\cn that all persons affected by the execution of the said public woikor by the taking of the said lands shall if theyha\e any well grounded objections to the execution of the s.iid public work or to the taking of such land set forth the same in writing, and serve such writing within forty da>s from the first publication of this notice to the Hamilton Borough Council. Schedule.

All that piece or parcel of land being part of Allotment No. 60, Hamilton West, County Waipa, in the Provincial District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement Twenty Perches more or less, bounded Northerly by Richmond - street Three Hundred and Sevcny Links, and Southerly and South -easterly by lines Three Hundred and Five Links and Eighty-five Links respectively, or thereabouts. T)OARD OF EDUCATION.

An Examination of Pupil Teachers or Junior Assistants, will be held at Auckland, at the Thames, and at Whangarei, on Tuesday, 25th January, 1881, and following days. Candidates must fill up a printed form of application, to be obtained at the Office of the Board, or at any of the principal Schools, and must forward the same so as to reach the Board not later than Saturday, 18th December. Every Teacher, under 19 years oi age, in the employment of the Board, is required to attend this Examination, 'and to fill up and send in a printed form of application as above. Candidates not in the service of the Board must be at least 15 years of age at the time of Examination, and must fill up and forward a printed form of application as above. Every such application must contain satisfactory certificates of age, health, and character, and also a certificate from the Head Teacher or other competent pet son that tho Candidate id likely to become an eflicient Teacher and is free fiom any bodily infirmity.

I>ANGIOAHIA HIGHWAY \ DISTRICT.

FURZE or GORtiE having spread into the public roads, owners of adjoining lands are hereby notified to remove the .same on or before the 7th day of December next, otherwise the removal will be effected at their expense, and the cost charged to them in accordance with "The Public Works Act, 1870."
