Application has been made to Government by Mr Chapman, solicitor to the principal native owners of the Patetgre block, requesting the Government to accept a refund of advances, and that the proclamation be withdrawn ; and also expressing the v lllingness of the natives to recoup the advances, cither by a direct cash payment or by cousenting to a block ot land of average (juality being as-igned to Government by the Native Lauds Court, which sits at Cambridge on the 24th January. Government decided to aceppt the offer, ?mtl give public notice of intention to remove proclamation on Sid J<\-bru;irv, which will allow ten days after the sitting of tho Court, so that any diiH>mlty arising in perfecting title to 1 md expected to be assigned to Government-, there A\ould be time to re-impose prod, undt ion. Tho Chief Surveyor, Auckland, AVill *eloet suitable land within blocks already passed through the Court, and they will be bold on terms highly favorable to boim Jirfr settlement. This arrangement ib made wholly with native o\vnei>, urospoctive of private person*. After removal of proclamation, the reit of the block vill be open for private purchn&t.'.
