Thk Waitoa Highway District Board accepted the following tenders for the works advertised iv the Waikato Timks : — Contract No. 1 : Lovctt and Ca&sidy, at M per yard. Contract No. 2 : Lovett and Cassidy — pulling down and rebuilding bridge, £12 ; carting and putting in pipes, £1 2s Gd per set ; carting and putting in box culverts, £1 los each ; earthwork, including swamp drains, 7UI per yard. Contract No. 3 : Lovett and C.issidy — clearing opening for bridge, £2 ; carting and building bridge, £10 10s ; earthwork to approaches, 9d per yard. Contract No. 4 : Bolton and Lyons — Gd per yard for earthwork, and 30s per 1 00 fascines. Contract No. 6 : Lovett and Casssidy — cleaving ont drains and clearing road, £12 ; carting eavth and making up up road, Is 2d per yard. The Board decided to spend £350 on the road leading to Morriusville from Richmond; and the Engineer was instructed ta call for tenders for the works required. I may mention that of this £3.30 the owners of the Richmond block contribute liberally having gnaivmtucil to subscribe about £120 over and above their year's rate. The Engineer was also instructed to get the road put in repair betw een Morrinsville and the eastern boundary of the Tamahere Highway District. A letter was read from the Mit im.ita Highway District Board wi&hmg the Board to take a part of the Matanwta district into the Waitoa district.
