KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Kirikiriroa Road Board was held at the Royal Hotel, Hamilton East, yesterday afternoon. Present • Messrs Primrose (chairman), Swarbrick, McLernon, and dillctt. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence w as appro\ cd. Mr H. Reynolds, manager of the Waikato Land Association, wrote on the lSlh ult., re the price of land on the roads stopped on the Association's property, stating that in the opinion of the directors £2 per acre wa& too high, and that 30fc> was a fair price. The Clerk stated that the valuation had been made on the ground that £2 was the lowest price for any land in the district. It was agreed to write to the Company to the effect that the Board saw no reason to alter the valuation. Mr Lovellj Taupiri, wrote regarding certain woi'k done at the approaches on the Mangawharo bridge, stating that Worthington had done the work under his instructions. He therefoi*e hoped that the account would be passed. The account was passed. The following accounts were passed for payment : — W. Chitty, horse hire and feed, £4 Is 6d ; E. Johnston, day labour, ! £7 Is ; J. Davies, day labour, £(i 18s. ; A. Campbell, timber, &c, £8 7s lid. The following tenders were opened for works on the Hokonui road, near Ayre's farm:— No. 1 contract: T. Hunt, £12 (accepted) ; H. Thomas, £15 ; B. Brown, £14 lls 3d ; J. Deegan, £15 17s 6d. No. 2 contract: T. Hunt, £39 18s; H Thomas, £U ; B. Brown, £47 15s Sd ; J. Deegan, £32 2s 6d (accepted) ; H. Mullions, £37 10s. Messrs Mullions and Livingstone and Booth also tendered for the works as a whole — the former at £48 15s, and the latter at £67. The Chairman drew attention to the necessity for executing certain works on the roads in different parts of the district, and suggested that a sub-committee of the members should ride round the district some time before the next meeting. Agreed to. The Clerk reported that the Tamahere bridge was in need of repairs ; and on the suggestion of the Chairman, it was agreed to send one of the surfacemen to attend to the. matter.
