A CORECTION.

TO TIIE EDITOE. Sik, — I beg to correct an error that appeared in Thursday's Times, to the eft'ect that Air ¥. Hicks had left for Napier to bring over 2000 sheep, to the order of the Waikato Land Association. It is quite correct he has left for Napier to bring 2000 sheep overlaud, but immediately on their arrival they will be sold by public auction to the highest bidder over reserved price. — I am, &c, T. W. Hicks. Trelawney, November 3rd, 1880.

The following clipped from the Nottingham Daily Guardian of August 28, will be some consolation to the happy possessors of twins, who may well consider themselves lucky in the face of such possibilities. Triplets have frequently been recorded but this is the first quartette we recollect hearing of and vouched for by a journal of recognised position. " Mrs. May, of 3, Devonshire-street, Old Kentroad, London, has given birth to four living children, three eons and one daughter, which are all doing well. It is intended to get up a subscription, on behalf of the parents." The London correspondent of the Melbourne Argus writes ; — " The telephone is getting to be pretty generally laid between 'churches and chapels and the houses of the well-to-do bed-ridden.' Chants, hymns, and lessons are distinctly heard, but only a very little of the sermon: This, I fear, will prove a great temptation to some churchgoers to stop at home, when we consider, too, that the collection plate cannot be sent by telephone — but there, I willimpute no motives." The Prince and Princess of Wales, accompanied by Prince Albert Victor and Prince George, went in procession on June 2G, with the chairman and members of the Metropolitan Board of "Works, to free Putney, Hammersmith, and Wandworfch bridges, the last of the 14 bridges over the Thames which still remained subject to toll. Notwithstanding the violent thunderstorm and heavy rain the proceedings passed ofl with marked success.
